Forever daydreaming. That is me. It usually goes something like this: food, work, boys, sleep, shoes, shoes, shoes. Not often able to manifest these dreams into reality however, you can imagine how surprised I was to see the latter envisaged in a shop on Redchruch Street in Shoreditch. Rows of unique, handmade leather shoes appear to hover before you, as if personally selected by the shoe gods themselves. A quick pinch for reality and I soon discover that it’s not God, but Canadian-born designer Tracey Neuls I have to thank. As do Kiera Knightly, Maggie Chung and Kate Winslet, fellow daydreamers and shoe admirers it seems.
If I wasn’t already smitten over Neuls as the latest MallVomit invitee, I discover that that the uniqueness of her retail space is by no mistake. “Over the years Neuls has built up a strong reputation for challenging footwear design and also the ideology and experience of retail. Treating both shops like a contemporary gallery space, many creative collaborations have been and continue to be showcased.”
Oh Tracey Neuls, we love thee.
